What are early literacy skills?
The following are skills your child needs in order to learn to read:
  • Motivation: Enjoying the reading experience
  • Print Concepts: Knowing how books "work"
  • Letter-Sound Knowledge: Knowing the ABC's and their sounds
  • Narrative Skills: Using words to retell stories and share thoughts
  • Vocabulary: Identifying things by name and learning new words
  • Phonological Awareness: Recognizing that there are sounds and groups of sounds that make up words
Do you teach anything other than reading skills?
Yes!  Although our instruction is rooted in literacy skills development, our lessons incorporate many other subject areas.  Even while teaching these other subject areas, we constantly look for ways to exercise reading and writing skills.

  • Cultural Studies
  • Visual Arts (painting, drawing, constructing, modeling, building, etc.)
  • Performing Arts (singing, dancing, dramatics, creative movement, etc.)
  • Character Education (citizenship skills)

What kind of care do you offer after school?
Currently, we offer an enrichment class one afternoon per week for elementary school students.  Our goal is to grow this program to five days per week and offer track-out camps.

Can I drop-off my child at anytime?
No, we do not offer services for "drop-off" care at this time.
